Dr. Elder

Optometrist

Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Canada, Dr. Elder graduated from the State University of New York College of Optometry after serving an internship at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in New York City and with the Indian Health Service on the Navajo reservation in Winslow, Arizona. Upon graduating, Dr. Elder completed his residency in primary care at SUNY. After his residency, he served as clinic director for TLC Laser Eye Centers in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Elder came to Connecticut in July 2002 and joined our practice in May of 2007.  Dr. Elder is experienced in seeing patients of all ages, from infants through seniors.

He currently lives in Southbury with his sons Ryan and Sean. When he is not seeing patients and he wants to relax,  Dr. Elder enjoys traveling, cooking, and photographing historical sites.  When he wants to stress himself out, he enjoys golfing and cheering on his beloved Buffalo Sabres during the NHL hockey season which after 44 years, have never managed not to let him down. But like the true fan he is, he keeps cheering them on. 

Dr. Albanese

Optometrist

Dr. Albanese was born and raised just outside of New York City. She graduated from Fordham University where she majored in biology. From there, she pursued her doctorate at the SUNY College of Optometry and went on to complete a residency in Vision Therapy and Head Trauma Rehabilitation. Dr. A., as many of her patients refer to her, has performed vision therapy on patients from 3 years old to 91 years young. After completing her residency, she served as a faculty member at the SUNY College of Optometry teaching students in both didactic and clinical settings. Dr. A. joined Wallingford Eye Care Center in 2017.

Dr. Albanese currently lives in Oxford with her husband, adorable daughters, and cute cat Elmer. In her free time, this self-proclaimed "crazy cat lady" loves photography, baking, skiing, and spending time with her family. 

Dr. Fung

Optometrist

Dr. Fung grew up on Long Island and completed her undergrad at New York University. In 2003, she graduated with both a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  During her internships, she concentrated on ocular diseases at the Newington VA clinic and Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut in Fairfield, CT. Specializing in custom-fit contact lenses and the treatment of many ocular diseases. She has been a long-term member of the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Association of Optometry.

Dr. Fung speaks Cantonese, German and French proficiently. Her hobbies include yoga, Zumba, and traveling internationally and she prides herself on being a foodie. She has been living in Connecticut since 2003 and currently resides in Hamden with her husband and cute little dog. 

Dr. Gurciullo

Optometrist

Dr. Gurciullo grew up in Meriden, Connecticut. She completed her undergraduate degree at The University of Vermont. She pursued her doctorate in Optometry at New England College of Optometry. During her internships she concentrated on binocular vision disorders in a private practice, and ocular disease at the Newington and Northampton VA. She is a long term member of the American Optometric Association and Connecticut Association of Optometry. 

Dr. Gurciullo currently lives in Windsor with her orange tabby cat named Jasper. When not seeing patients she likes to take road trips, go hiking, and spend time on the beach.
