Audrey Fung, OD
Dr. Fung grew up on Long Island and graduated from New York University. In 2003 she graduated with both a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. During her internships she concentrated on ocular diseases at the Newington, VA Clinic and Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut in Fairfield, CT. Specializing in custom fit contact lenses and the treatment of many ocular diseases, Dr. Fung had been a much-welcomed addition to our practice. She has been a long-term member of the American Optometric Association and Connecticut Association of Optometry.
Dr. Fung speaks Cantonese, German and French proficiently. Her hobbies include yoga, Zumba, traveling internationally and she prides herself as being a foodie. She has been living in Connecticut since 2003 and currently resides with her husband and cute little dog in Hamden.
Janine Albanese, OD
Dr. Albanese was born and raised just outside of New York City. She graduated from Fordham University where she majored in biology. From there, she pursued her doctorate at the SUNY College of Optometry and went on to complete a residency in Vision Therapy and Head Trauma Rehabilitation. Dr. A, as many of her patients refer to her, has performed vision therapy on patients from 3 years old to 91 years young. After completing her residency, she served as a faculty member at the SUNY College of Optometry teaching students in both didactic and clinical settings. Dr. A comes to Wallingford Eye Care with four years of experience practicing optometry.
Dr. Albanese currently lives in Oxford with her husband and adorable daughters. In her free time, this self-proclaimed "crazy cat lady" loves photography, baking, skiing and spending time with her family.
Ken Elder, OD
Born and raised in Niagara Falls Canada, Dr. Elder graduated from the State University of New York College of Optometry after serving an internship at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in New York City and with the Indian Health Service on the Navajo reservation in Winslow, Arizona.
Upon graduating, Dr. Elder completed his residency in Primary Care, also at SUNY. After his residency he served as clinic director for TLC Laser Eye Centers in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Elder came to Connecticut in July of 2002 and joined our practice in May of 2007. Dr. Elder is experienced seeing patients of all ages, infants thru seniors.
He currently lives in Southbury with his sons Ryan and Sean. When he is not seeing patients and he wants to relax, Dr. Elder enjoys travel, cooking, and photographing historical sites. When he wants to stress himself out, he enjoys golfing and cheering on his beloved Buffalo Sabres during the NHL hockey season who after 44 years, have never managed to not let him down. But like the true fan he is, he keeps cheering them on.
John N. Sienko, OD
Dr. Sienko has been practicing optometry at WECC since 1980. He's a graduate of Fairfield University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He continued his education at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA and graduated with his Doctor of Optometry Degree. The Connecticut Optometry Board certifies him for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Pharmaceuticals as well as Advanced Optometric Care. He gained experience at the Joslin Diabetic Center in Boston, MA and Brighton Marine Hospital. In addition, he was a clinical instructor at the Boston Eye Clinic.
Aside from his work at WECC, Dr. Sienko is the consultant optometrist for Gaylord Hospital and the eye care consultant for several convalescent homes. He served on the State Board of Examiners for the Department of Public Health for many years. He resides in Wallingford and when he's not devoting his time to his patients he is relaxing at the lake with his wife, two children, and grandchildren!
